Riot Games and Red Bull have partnered to bring us a brand new League of Legends 1v1 tournament, the Red Bull Power Spike.

If you were looking for something new other than the monotony of solo queue, TFT, VALORANT, and Legends of Runeterra to get you through your day (seriously, that’s not enough?), Riot and Red Bull have the cure to your quarantine doldrums. Enter, Red Bull Power Spike, the newest League of Legends tournament powered by the two companies and in partnership with tournament platform Battlefly.

This tournament will allow US players (sorry to all our EU, Canadian, and other international friends) to participate in daily 1v1 tournaments that will award unique prizes. These tournaments will begin next Monday, April 27 and will run all month long through May 24.

This marks one of the first outside tournaments for League of Legends ever since the days of IEM in 2016. Since then, North American League of Legends has been tightly controlled by the LCS, but now they appear to be giving some of that power up with their recent update to the North American Community Competition License last week.

To participate, you must be a member of the official League of Legends Discord channel (there’s a link to register on the official information page here), but there are few other details other than the involvement of the LCS (commissioner Chris Greeley told Newsweek that part of the goal is beginning to give players some avenue to compete in an amateur scene). This could mean that there will be more amateur tournaments held outside of Riot’s purview.

For now, though, it’ll be on NA players to see if they have what it takes to win their 1v1s and take home the teased “unique prizes.” One that is confirmed for sure, though, is an exclusive Discord role and title “Red Bull Power Spike Winner.” So sharpen your skills and get ready to 1v1 me bro!
